Ali Soleimani said that 60 percent of the weight and value of exported goods are related to goods exported to China, and 11 percent of the weight and 17 percent of the value of exports from Bushehr province's customs are related to the UAE.

He stated: “In the first ten months of this year, over 25 million tons of goods were exported through Bushehr province's customs to 47 different countries, with the largest exports going to China.”

He put the total value of exported goods from Bushehr province's customs at over $9.2 billion.

Soleimani named the UAE, Turkey, Pakistan, India, Oman, Brazil, Sri Lanka, Qatar, and Bangladesh as other target countries for exports and added that Bushehr province has a very good capacity for developing exports to various countries.

As previously announced by the official, in the first half of the current Iranian calendar year (March 21-September 22, 2025), over 15.53 million tons of non-oil goods, worth more than $5.7 billion, were exported through the customs offices of Bushehr province.

Soleimani stated that this province holds the top rank in the country for export goods during the mentioned six-month period.

The official further mentioned that 13 customs offices are active in the field of commercial and trade services in Bushehr province.

He said the customs offices of Bushehr province provide services in the fields of export, import, and transit of goods.

Pointing out that the customs offices of Bushehr province secured the top national rank for exports in the first half of this year, he added: "In the first half of the current year, the customs offices of Bushehr province, by registering the export of over 15.53 million tons of various goods worth $5.7 billion, have taken the first place in the country's exports."

The director-general of Bushehr Customs Department listed petrochemical products, methanol, cement and clinker, fish and shrimp, gypsum, and agricultural products as part of the export shipments from the province's customs.

He stated that the main destinations for the export shipments are China, the UAE, India, Pakistan, Brazil, Turkey, Oman, Qatar, Bangladesh, and Kuwait.

Soleimani also described the 56-percent growth in revenue for Bushehr province's customs in the first half of this year compared to the same period last year as a sign of a leap in economic activities.

Regarding imports through Bushehr province's customs, the official announced that approximately 349,000 tons of essential goods and industrial equipment, worth $1.062 billion, were imported into the country through Bushehr province's customs in the first half of this year.

These primarily included diesel power generators, power plant components and parts, various types of fabric, rice, various types of ball and roller bearings, passenger car parts and spare parts, motorcycle parts and spare parts, various types of tea, various automotive supplies, and electric motors, the official informed and added that these products were imported from countries such as the UAE, China, Russia, India, and Germany.

As previously announced by the province’s governor-general, the value of non-oil export from Bushehr increased by 12 percent in the past Iranian calendar year 1403 (ended on March 20, 2025).

Arsalan Zare said that over 30 million tons of non-oil products worth $12 billion were exported from the province in the previous year.

The official also announced that 900,000 tons of non-oil commodities valued at $2.8 billion were imported to the province in the previous year.

Referring to the important position of the Bushehr customs offices, he emphasized the need to increase the facilities and equipment of the provincial customs.

He stated that given the privileged position of the Bushehr customs offices in earning foreign currency income, improving the level of their activities is emphasized.

Despite accounting for only about 1.5 percent of Iran's land and population, Bushehr is an economic giant.

The province is the third-largest economy in Iran, contributing over six percent to the national GDP.

Its economic output is primarily driven by the energy sector, specifically the supply of electricity, gas, steam, and air ventilation, which alone accounts for more than half of the province's total production.

Bushehr's economy is overwhelmingly dominated by its strategic energy and petrochemical sector.

The province is home to the Pars Special Economic Energy Zone in Asaluyeh, the heart of Iran's gas and petrochemical industry.

This has led to an extraordinary concentration of national capacity, with Bushehr holding 88 percent of Iran's petrochemical capacity, production of 58 percent of the country's petrochemical products, and supply of over 74 percent of the nation's natural gas.

The Bushehr Nuclear Power Plant, Iran's first operational commercial reactor, also contributes to the national energy grid.

Major projects, both completed and under construction, continue to attract significant investment. Current projects in the Pars Special Economic Zone alone are valued at over $18 billion.

Leveraging its massive industrial output, Bushehr is Iran's premier non-oil export hub.

The province consistently accounts for the biggest share of the country's non-oil exports, with recent data showing it was responsible for 25 percent of Iran's total non-oil exports in one quarter.

Key export commodities include:

* Petrochemicals: The dominant export, including products like methanol, polyethylene, and urea.

* Gas condensates: A major contributor to the province's export value.

* Minerals and agricultural products: Including cement, clinker, tomatoes, and farmed shrimp.

With nearly 700 kilometers of coastline, Bushehr hosts 10 active commercial ports, including Bushehr, Dayyer, Kangan, and Kharg Island.

These ports are strategically positioned for trade with Persian Gulf states. For instance:

* Dayyer Port serves as Iran's primary export hub to Qatar, particularly for agricultural products.

* Bushehr Port is being positioned as a key gateway for exports to Saudi Arabia.

The province's port infrastructure is under continuous development.

Recent projects, such as dredging Bushehr Port's channels to 10.8 meters, now allow it to accommodate vessels with a capacity of over 30,000 tons, up from a previous limit of 15,000 tons. However, officials note that further infrastructure upgrades, including road and rail connections, are needed to realize the province's full export potential.

Bushehr continues to attract significant domestic and foreign investment. The province's development strategy is focused on completing the petrochemical value chain, supporting midstream and downstream industries to maximize profitability and create sustainable employment.
